A lobbying group for the state’s cities and towns is polling its members about whether they’d like the 2013 General Assembly to repeal, modify or retain intact a set of anti-pollution rules for the Jordan Lake watershed.

Volvo Group on Thursday unveiled a $10 million, 40,000-square-foot expansion to its Technical Center and also announced an additional $2.5 million, 18,700-square-foot facility expansion at Volvo’s Greensboro campus. Construction on Hawthorne's luxury apartment project in Greensboro well under way

Construction on a luxury apartment development by Hawthorne Residential Partners on Bridford Parkway in Greensboro is well under way, with plans to welcome the first tenants as early as next month. KMW Builders to break ground on Greensboro rental development

KMW Builders is expected to begin construction in December on a $6.5 million, 48-unit affordable apartment community in Greensboro called the Terrace at Rocky Knoll. The site is located Rocky Knoll Road between Randleman Road and Red Chief Street. A proposal to bring a car lot to the corner of Holden Road and Ashland Street near West Wendover Avenue in Greensboro has received the support of city planners, the News & Record reports. First Citizens to open major new Triad office

First Citizens Bank will open its new main Greensboro office in Irving Park on Oct. 1 and host a grand opening event Oct. 18, the bank has announced. First Citizens (NASDAQ: FCNCA), which is based in Raleigh, is moving administrative personnel from its downtown branch into the new 30,900-square-foot, four-story building. Self Help says it can fix Revolution Mill’s woes

It will be the biggest historic redevelopment project in its history, but the nonprofit lender and developer Self Help said it is confident it can fulfill a vision of a fully reborn community along the Yanceyville Street corridor in Greensboro. Self Help Ventures Funds, the development unit of the Durham-based organization, won the foreclosure auction for the Revolution Mill, a sprawling 630,000-square-foot former Cone Mills textile plant that has been partially redeveloped into Class A office space.

Three Triad colleges receive $11.1 million in federal funds

The U.S. Department of Education is awarding $11.08 million to three historically black colleges and universities in the Triad. In Greensboro, N.C. A&T State University and Bennett College will receive $5.25 million and $1.46 million respectively. Winston-Salem State University will get $4.38 million. Salt Box to open lighting showroom

Nancy Moore may have decided to close her shop at State Street Station, but that doesn't mean that she's retiring. Greensboro Coliseum Asks For Improvements

About $15 million worth of the projects could begin as soon as this year, with the council’s approval. Improvements could add more bathrooms and better concession stands to the upper concourse of the coliseum, replacement of 20-year-old stadium seats, widening the concourse of the Greensboro Aquatic Center. In addition, coliseum officials have found the hallway is too narrow to accommodate the crowds it has drawn.

Hayes-Taylor YMCA To Discuss Move

The Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA will hold a meeting later this month about its proposed move to Barber Park. The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Gateway University Research Park's South Campus Auditorium at 2901 E. Lee St. The Hayes-Taylor Y is now at 1101 E. Market St.; however, N.C. A&T is buying that site, which is adjacent to campus. The YMCA is considering a move to a 15-acre site at East Lee and Florida streets.

The natural foods co-op grocery store's planned move got a funding boost via its developer, North Eugene Partners. The 10,500-sqft building will enable the co-op to offer: Full Service Deli with CafĂ© Seating, Fresh Clean-Raised Meats and Cheeses, Beer and Wine, An Expanded Selection of Many Products, Customer Service Desk, Community Room for Events and Classes. The cooperative is poised to serve as a hub for Greensboro’s growing local food economy.

UNCG ready to clean up old houses

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) has begun the process of demolishing burned houses in the Glenwood neighborhood. The houses are being removed so that UNCG can start construction of student housing as part of its West Lee Street expansion. Construction of the student housing should start by early 2012-summer and should be ready by 2013-August.

Commission picks developer for South Elm Street site

The Redevelopment Commission of Greensboro chose South Elm Development Group LLC to develop seven acres south of Lee Street. The company is a partnership that includes Robert Isner, a key developer of downtown’s Southside neighborhood, and Bob Chapman, Durham-based TND Partners.
