Greenway at Fisher Park Receives First Tenants
It took nearly eight years for a project at the former North State Chevrolet dealership downtown to get off the drawing board. Two weeks ago, tenants started occupying the first completed building. By mid-August, all five buildings in the $10 million complex should be complete.read more

Salt Box to open lighting showroom
Nancy Moore may have decided to close her shop at State Street Station, but that doesn't mean that she's retiring. Moore, who opened her store in 1974, is simply shifting her focus to the lighting side of her business. The Salt Box has manufactured lighting since the 1980's. Their clients are mostly architects and interior designers, Moore said. read more
Greensboro Inn closes
The beleaguered Greensboro Inn is out of business. The hotel on Summit Avenue closed June 1 in an agreement with the city of Greensboro. As part of the agreement, the owners cannot operate the property for residential purposes without the city’s consent. read more
New jail nears completion in downtown Greensboro
The ribbon will be cut on the new Guilford County Detention Center in downtown Greensboro next Monday, ending a long journey for Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes. “I was told when I was elected sheriff in 1994 that the biggest problem was going to be the jail,” Barnes said. read more
UNCG seeks a new nursing program
UNCG is among several state schools seeking a new nursing degree program that nursing professionals said will help them meet the demands of the changing health-care system. Next week, the university will ask the UNC Board of Governors for permission to plan a doctor of nursing practice program. The UNC staff has recommended the board approve the program. read more
